Week 26: Karkunkylä, Lavia, Kokemäki

Our countryside tour continues. The week started in Karkunkylä, a brief visit in Lavia, ending up at Kokemäki, where we are pet sitting for about a week.

Welcome to our weekly recap! This one's for June 26th-July 2nd, which is week 26, 2014.

Workwise:
The rhythm of our days have been decided by pets for a change, bringing us a disciplining nine-to-five effect.

What did I learn
: Finland is full of places I have no idea of. It's refreshing to take a closer look at our own backyard every now and then.

Food love
: Salty licorice flavored with ammonium chloride, salmiakki, our favorite candy. One of the things we miss from Finland when traveling abroad.

Surprise of the week
: We visited some sort of a refuge / outdoor museum on Friday. The place was hidden in the middle of woods, no signs to take us there. The place seemed empty, but suddenly a flock of sheep rushed towards us from behind an old windmill. Luckily I had my camera at hand.

Tip of the week
: If you are driving in Finland and not in a hurry, you almost always have scenic alternatives for the main roads.
Winding road

Random thought:
We visited an annual old books' fair in Vammala. We still like real books even though we cannot carry them with us. I don't think I would've learned to read e-books if I hadn't had to, but I'm happy that I did.

Memorable moment
: Watching Belma, our pet sittee with an attention span of three seconds, concentrate on playing and drawing circles in the sand with her water cup for minutes.

And that's it for our week. How was yours?
