Our March 2014

I can't believe March is already behind us, time flies!

This month saw us experiencing 3 Mexican cities (Playa del Carmen, Guanajuato and Mexico City) and then finally moving to a new country, Guatemala. After almost 3 months in Mexico! So as you can guess, we really liked the country and could have spend even more time there. On the other hand, Antigua in Guatemala is quickly capturing a place in our hearts, so no regrets on moving on.

Statistics

Countries visited: 2  (total 19 countries*)
Mexico and a new country for both of us, Guatemala.

Cities/towns visited: 4 (total 59 cities/towns)
Playa del Carmen, Guanajuato, México City, Antigua

Beds slept in: 4 (total 70 beds)
rental apartment in Playa del Carmen (10), a rental apartment in Guanajuato (14), friend's living room in México City (3), an Airbnb house in Antigua (4)

Average daily spend on accommodation: Mexico 21€, Guatemala 14€ (22€)
In Guatemala we shared a house with another couple.

Average daily spend on food: Mexico 23,5€, Guatemala 41€ (32.5€)
We spent quite a lot of money in Mexico City for eating out, but on the other hand Guanajuato we used very little. In Guatemala the number is high because we spent the 4 days vacationing with our visiting friends, eating and drinking well.

We started with a recap of last month, in Our February 2014.

The first week of March, Week 9, we were still in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I went snorkeling with the turtles in Akumal, but otherwise it was much about work and routines. Normal life.

Week 10 was our last week at Playa. Last visits to the beach, last coffee dates with newly found friends, last dinners at our favorite restaurants. Then off to Guanajuato, which sweeped us off our feet with its colors and charm.

Whole week 11 was spent in the lovely town of Guanajuato, enjoying our lives. Especially our "office" on our roof top terrace, with sweeping views over the pretty town.

Week 12 had a slow start with Antti being sick, but we did manage to see some more sights of Guanajuato (mines & mummies) before our time there was over, as well as meet up with our friends. The week ended with a day in the gigantic but welcoming México City.

Week 13 started with our second day sightseeing in México City. Rest of the week was spent in Antigua, Guatemala with our friends. Because one of them was walking with crutches we didn't venture too far (the guys did climb a volcano!), but spent plenty of our time eating, drinking, and relaxing. Vacation!

We were productive and managed to publish several other posts during the month. We wrote the last part of our Europe recap, this time concentrating on our expenses in Europe in 2013. Then Antti analysed our activities in social media and made these cool stats: Some social media statistics. And we wrote about a not so common digital nomad destination: cruise ship.
